Indigenous
Project Lead

The Coalition of Hamilton Indigenous Leadership (CHIL) is hiring an Indigenous Project Lead to design and implement an Indigenous cultural training and accountability framework for the homeless-serving sector in Hamilton, Ontario. 

Working alongside CHIL staff, local Indigenous Knowledge-Keepers, the Indigenous community of Hamilton, and other stakeholders, this role will contribute to supporting Indigenous Peoples experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Hamilton by:

  • Working with relevant stakeholders to assess the cultural responsiveness of non-Indigenous homeless-serving agencies in Hamilton

  • Collaborating with local Indigenous Knowledge-Keepers to develop an appropriate cultural training and accountability framework for non-Indigenous homeless-serving agencies.

  • Coordinating with local Indigenous Knowledge-Keepers to deliver cultural training to non-Indigenous homeless-serving agencies.

  • Consulting with Indigenous community members experiencing or at risk of homelessness to determine the effectiveness of the cultural training and accountability framework.

  • Providing regular project updates to relevant stakeholders.

Preference for this role will be given to qualified Indigenous candidates in accordance with Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act and Section 7 of the Employment Equity Act. First Nations, Inuit, and Metis candidates will be given priority for this role, please self-identify in your application.

The Coalition of Hamilton Indigenous Leadership (CHIL) is hiring an Indigenous Data Governance Specialist to design and implement an Indigenous data governance plan for the homeless-serving sector in Hamilton, Ontario.

  • Working alongside CHIL staff, Indigenous community members, local Indigenous Knowledge-Keepers, City of Hamilton partners, and other stakeholders, this role will contribute to supporting Indigenous Peoples experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Hamilton by ensuring:

  • Data concerning Indigenous Peoples are handled with cultural sensitivity.

  • Policies and protocols regarding the gathering, holding, and use of Indigenous data respect and protect the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

  • Use of Indigenous data appropriate and accurately reflects the needs and experiences of Indigenous Peoples.

  • The Indigenous data governance plan accurately reflects the needs, experiences, and diverse perspectives of Indigenous Peoples in Hamilton.
