Indigenous Histories of Hamilton
The Indigenous Histories of Hamilton project is documenting and celebrating the movements and care that has helped shaped the Indigenous community of Hamilton across generations.
This project is rooted in a desire to honour and share the incredible contributions of Indigenous community members to create the much needed resources, relationships, and opportunities for our community to thrive.
The Indigenous Histories of Hamilton project will host Tea Talks with Indigenous community leaders from culture, health, education, politics, etc. to share their experiences and wisdoms on how the Indigenous community has grown over the last 50+ years. These talks will be recorded and shared with community upon completion.
We will also be creating ongoing opportunities for Indigenous community members to contribute to the project through our social media.
The outcome of this project will be the development of multimedia resources documenting and celebrating our community's history that can be shared with many generations to come.
The design for the Indigenous Histories of Hamilton logo was developed by Onondaga-Anishinaabe Artist, Brent Beauchamp.
